So Happy Together

Healthy Stats

Gib sailed through his 6-month checkup with flying colors. He also skillfully dodged getting shots by having a cold (slick move there, bud). And so, here are the numbers:

27.5 inches long - 70th percentile
18-inch head circumference - 85th percentile
17.9 pounds - 45th percentile

He's trending almost exactly the same as Roxi did as a peanut, which means he'll be in 5-year-old hats soon just like his big sister.

Introducing

Roxi and Gib's new Colorado cousin, Connor James Stone. CJ was born September 17, exactly 6 months after Gib. Mom Jen, dad Mike and brother Levi are all doing well. And CJ, as you can see, is The Cuteness.

Strategic Gaming

Rob and Roxi have Daddy/Daughter nights fairly often. She gets to pick what they do, and sometimes she chooses to go to a coffee shop. They bike to the shop - Rob biking, Roxi in the bike trailer - share a smoothie and a brownie and play board games together. They'll use the Scrabble tiles to spell out very basic words, play with the cars from Life, etc. And here's what Roxi had to say about the game Stratego the other night: "I don't like this game, Daddy. It's too unusual. This game is for boys."

Hunka Hunka Burnin' Love

Lest you think that Gib is the only one around here knocking back milestones, Roxi has been making plenty of strides on her own, including one that will serve her well for many years to come ... Elvis impersonation.

Big Boy

Gibbers (as Roxi calls him) recently had a checkup, with stellar results:
- 15.7 pounds, in the 50th percentile for his age
- 26.5 inches long, in the 80th percentile
- 17.5 head circumference, in the 85th percentile

Gib got the big thumbs up from Dr. P in all other areas as well. The dude is doing great. He babbles, laughs, rolls, supports his head, grabs and gnaws on everything within his reach, kicks, blows bubbles and drools with the best of 'em. He's also quite the eater; his menu now includes rice cereal, bananas, sweet potatoes, peas and apples. And the way he eyes our food, I wouldn't be surprised if cheeseburgers were next.

Solid

Today the little man took his first step towards Key Lime pie (the most important real food I can think of at the moment). Gib dug his rice cereal immediately, cooing and grinning all the way.

Rock And Also

He rolls! He rolls! He rolls! Big Gib took his first awkward hoist towards mobility today by rolling from his back to his stomach. Repeatedly. And even from his stomach to his back once. Hoo boy. Let the games begin.

Happy Campers

Gib went on his first camping trip a couple of weekends ago. The fresh air of Wyoming agreed with him; he slept better in the great outdoors than he does in his crib at home. Roxi had a blast as well - playing with sticks and rocks, conversing with imaginary animals and enjoying the company of her Colorado aunts, uncles and cousins. She cried when it was time to go home. Rest assured though friends, this isn't the beginning of an announcement that we'll be roughing it full time. Much as I could easily live on s'mores for the rest of my days, I love me some indoor plumbing.
